Homemade Taco Seasoning Mix
I show you how to make your own quick, easy, and inexpensive taco seasoning mix…and it’s really good! I like it because I don’t have to take out all the little spice bottles, every time I make tacos. I take out one bottle, put a couple of big tablespoon in my meat and I’m done. No measuring, not turning the little spice carousel trying to find all the little bottles…so easy. I hope you love it!

1/4 cup ground cumin
1/4 cup chili powder
1 tablespoon + 1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon + 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
2 teaspoons garlic powder
2 teaspoon onion powder
1 tablespoon paprika
1 tablespoon oregano
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes or slightly less ground red pepper

1 teaspoon ground coriander or cilantro flakes
2 teaspoons flour (this will thicken the juices of your ground meat)

Mix all the ingredients in a bowl. Store in an airtight container. Use 2-3 tablespoons per pound of ground meat, according to your taste. Stores great in the freezer as well.

Homemade Taco Seasoning Recipe ~ Noreen’s Kitchen
Greetings! Making tacos for dinner and thought I would share how I make a really easy and delicious taco seasoning. I like this blend better than the envelopes you can purchase in the store because I get to control the amount of salt, chemicals and the heat level to suit my family’s tastes.

This is made using very common spices that you most likely have on your pantry shelf or spice rack. I always add a bit of corn meal to my blend because it helps to thicken the meat mixture. If you look on the envelope of commercial taco seasonings, you will see any number of things from modified corn starch, modified food starch, “spices” listed after spices and/or Autolyzed Yeast Extract. Both of the latter are nothing more than MSG. Nobody needs those. They are used to increase the flavor, prolong the shelf life and decrease the quality of the end product. You can make your own, know what is in it and be happy in that knowledge.

I hope you will try this taco seasoning blend and I hope you love it!

Happy eating!

Bullying is a serious problem, particularly for people in our field. The group of people labeled nerds are more likely to enter the tech field, and also more likely to be bullied through their youth.

Here I go through some bad advice I hear given and my experience with it. I go over the beginning of certain bullying experiences and the end of it, and how I felt about the decisions I made every step of the way.

As a kid I was in terrible shape and in terrible health. At 26 I still have health issues I don’t publicly disclose but I am no longer 5’6″ 97 pounds. I am 150 and can easily outrun many sprinters and benchpress 100 pounds over my weight with ease. I do not have to worry about the issues now that I did when I was younger, and realize how even I was agreeing with some of the crap advice I hear being given to youths. This advice is usually parroted ad nausea by adults that forget what it is like to be a kid.
